(Argentina, 2003, 80 min. Directed by Celina Murga )

Ana and the Others is an intimate portrait of a young woman who returns to her small, provincial hometown for the first time in years since moving away to the big city of Buenos Aires.

Newcomer Camila Toker brilliantly plays Ana, a 25-year-old who goes back home to the river town of Paraná for Christmas after many years and reunites with old friends most of whom have, for better and worse, settled into small-town married life. Looking for memories, finding places and people from the past, and slowly becoming more and more curious about the whereabouts of an elusive ex-boyfriend, Ana considers the world she left behind, the life she chose not to make her own.

"A lovely debut … Ana feels like a Comedies and Proverbs entry that Rohmer never got around to making.” — Kent Jones, Film Comment
