Costa Rica became the last Latin American country to select an Oscar candidate for the foreign language film competition, and it has chosen the romantic comedy Entonces nosotros / About Us by Hernán Jiménez as its contender.
Starring Jiménez himself as Diego, a hopeless romantic desperately trying to salvage his relationship with long time girlfriend Sofía (played by Argentine actress, Noelia Castaño), plans a beach getaway clear the air, and propose to her. But a chance encounter with Sofía's old friend Malena will cast doubts on their relationship, and his skewed understanding of love, quickly turning a perfect weekend in paradise into Diego's worst nightmare.
About Us becomes the fifth Costa Rican Oscar contender, since the Central American country started submitting candidates in 2005.
