The Other Son by Juan Sebastián Quebrada
The San Sebastian Film Festival unveiled today the eleven international titles from nineteen countries that will be competing for the New Directors Award at its upcoming 71st edition, which includes the Colombian film The Other Son / El otro hijo by Juan Sebastián Quebrada, as the only Latin American entry.
Starring Miguel González, Ilona Almansa, and Jenny Navarrete, the second film by Quebrada (Strange Days), tells the story of Federico and his brother Simon, who live their teenage years to the fullest, until the day Simon dies by falling from a balcony at a party. While his family falls to pieces before his eyes, Federico tries to live a normal life during his final weeks of school. Unable to mourn, he starts to grow closer to Laura, his dead brother’s girlfriend and seems to find comfort in her.
The 71st edition of the San Sebastian Film Festival will take place September 22-30 in Spain.
