The Good Intentions / Las buenas intenciones, the debut feature by Ana García Blaya leads the nominations in the 68th edition of Argentina’s Silver Condor Awards. The film, a subtle and charming coming of age drama, received 14 nominations including for Best Film, Best Director, and Best First Film.
Other films with multiple nominations are Alejandro Fadel’s Murder me, Monster / Muere, monstruo, muere with 11, Paula Hernández’s The Sleepwalkers / Los sonámbulos with 8, Santiago Loza’s Brief Story from the Green Planet / Breve historia del planeta verde and Natalia Smirnoff’s La afinadora de árboles, both with 6.
Additionally, Mariano González’s El cuidado de los otros, Mateo Bendesky’s Family Members / Los miembros de la familia, Gustavo Fontán’s The Debt / La deuda, Sebastián Borensztein’s Heroic Losers / La odisea de los giles, and Marcelo Páez Cubells’ Witch / Bruja, have each earned four nominations.
The Latin American films nominated in the Best Ibero-American category are the Brazilian film Araby / Arábia by João Dumans and Affonso Uchoa, the Uruguayan film Belmonte by Federico Veiroj, the Colombian film Birds of Passage / Pájaros de verano by Ciro Guerra and Cristina Gallego, and the Italian-Chilean film Santiago, Italia by Nanni Moretti.
The winners of the 68th edition of the Silver Condor Awards will be announced on May 25.
