Argentina's Territorio LABEX Announces its 2019 Roster

Territorio LABEX, the Latin American film lab for development and production of first and second feature films, has announced the 16 projects—eight in development, and the other half as work in progress selection—from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panamá, Paraguay, Perú, Uruguay, and Venezuela, that will participate in the 11th annual edition to take place August 13 - 16 in Buenos Aires.

The projects participating in the development stage are the documentary projects Daragai Lida by Laura Barile from Brazil, Luciano by Manuel Besedovsky from Argentina, Mater Putta by Paula Compagnucci from Argentina, and Trazos de cielo by Ligia Cortés Aguila from Mexico; and the fiction projects El germen by Maximiliano Nicólas Anriquez from Argentina, the Argentine-Brazilian co-production El placer es todo mío by Sacha Amaral, La sombra del nido by vonne Zgaib Aburad from Colombia, and Reinterferencias by Felipe Barriga from Chile.  

The work in progress projects are the fiction films Años luz by Alina Kaplan from Uruguay, El Maestro by Cristina Tamagnini from Argentina, Borom Taxi by Andrés Guerberoff, Frío en la montaña by Edison Gómez Amaya from Colombia, Malón by Lucila Podestá from Argentina, Una casa lejos by Mayra Bottero from Argentina; and the documentary films Batopilas: Memorias del futuro by Osvaldo Montaño Ruiz from Mexico and Las ruinas nuevas by Manuel Embalse from Argentina.

The selected projects were chosen from a record number of 279 applications from all over Latin America, and will compete for different in-kind and cash prizes. For a second year in a row, Cinema Tropical will offer an in-kind prize to one of winning project, consisting of a personalized film festival and distribution consultancy for the filmmaker.
