Argentine Double-Bill NOCTURNA by Gonzalo Calzada Gets DVD and Digital Release

Philadelphia-based distribution company Breaking Glass Pictures has announced that it will be releasing the latest double-bill from multi-award-winning Argentine genre director Gonzalo Calzada, titled Nocturna

The double-bill, set to be released on Tuesday, January 18 on DVD and VOD, will feature both sides of the horror drama: Side A – The Great Old Man’s Night / Lado A – La noche del hombre grande and Side B – Where the Elephants Go to Die / Lado B – Donde los elefantes van a morir.  The DVD will be released as a two-part collection.

Winner of the Ibero-American Award for Best Film at the Macabro International Horror Film Festival in Mexico City, and the Best Actor and Best Actress awards at the Fantaspoa International Fantastic Film Festival in Porto Alegre, Brazil, Noctura: Side A – The Great Old Man’s Night follows a nearly 100-year-old man who, on his final night on earth, fights for redemption from his life’s misdeeds. The film premiered in 2021 at the Screamfest Film Festival in Los Angeles, where it won multiple awards including for Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Editing.

In Nocturna: Side B – Where the Elephants Go to Die, winner of the Best Film award at the Macabro Film Festival alongside Side A, Calzada embarks on an aesthetically-opposite experimental twist of the same story.

Most recognized for his work on fantasy and horror titles, Calzada’s past films have premiered at numerous international and genre film festivals, including Mar del Plata, Rio de Janeiro, Cairo, and more. His 2009 macabre, dramatic comedy Lucia won the Opera Prima Award for Best First Film at the 33rd Cairo International Film Festival, and his 2016 horror Resurrection / Resurrección notably broke box office records for its genre in Argentina.
