The Brazilian film Querência / Homing, the second feature by Helvécio Marins Jr. (Girimunho), was the winner of the Best Picture Prize at the 20th edition of the Jeonju Film Festival in Korea. The award comes with a cash prize of 10 million KRW, the equivalent of approximately $8,500 USD.

Querência had its world premiere at the Berlinale last February. Set in the bucolic countryside of Brazil, the film follows Marcelo, an easygoing cowboy at a cattle farm who lives for one passion: rodeos. One tragic incident affects him deeply. Little by little he overcomes the trauma and is ready to dream again.

The jury of this year’s international competition was comprised by Hungarian director Gyorgy Palfi, Viennale's director Eva Sangiorgi, Argentine actor Nahuel Perez Biscayart, Korean producer Dong Yeon Won.

The 20th edition of the Jeonju Film Festival took place May 2—11 in Korea.
