Chilean Filmmaker Ignacio Agüero Takes Top Honor at FID Marseille

Chilean filmmaker Ignacio Agüero was the top winner at the 27th edition of the FID Marseille Film Festival taking home the Grand Prix of the International Competition with his most recent film Como me da la gana 2 / This Is the Way I Like It 2.

A remake of Como me da la gana, a film from 1985, in which Agüero interrupted the shooting by filmmakers who were making films at that time, to ask them about the sense of filmmaking under the dictatorship of Pinochet. In this new version, the Chilean director asks hit young fellow filmmakers about the cinematic essence of their work. 

In addition the top prize for the Chilean production, two Colombian American directors were also awarded at the Marseille Film Festival: Laura Huertas Millán received a Special Mention in the French Competition for her film Sol Negro, and Camila Rodríguez Triana was the winner of the Renaud Victor Prize for her film Atentamente / Sincerely.

The 27th edition of FID Marseille took place July 12-18 in France.
