Chile's Felipe Ríos to Premiere His Debut Feature Film in Karlovy Vary's Official Competition

The Chilean film The Man from the Future / El hombre del futuro, the debut feature film by Felipe Ríos, has been announced as the only Latin American entry in the official competition at the 54th edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic. The psychological road movie will have its world premiere in the competition along eleven other international titles.

The Chilean-Argentine co-production stars José Soza, Antonia Giessen, María Alché, and Roberto Farías, and follows Michelsen, an old truck driver, who is almost legendary. Solitary and affected by the disease, he travels the roads of Patagonia, when he meets a young hitchhiker. She reminds him of her daughter Elena, whom she has not seen in years. Elena, meanwhile, decides to secretly leave her home, with the excuse of participating in an amateur boxing tournament. So he embarks on the Four Fingers truck that goes to Patagonia. Eventually, their destinations will cross paths and offer them one last chance to catch up with the past.

The 54th edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival will take place June 28 — July 6.
