Acclaimed Chilean documentarian Ignacio Agüero has made history by winning the top prize in the International competition at FIDMarseille for a second time. Following his Grand Prix win for This Is the Way I Like It 2 in 2017, Agüero was awarded again the top prize for his most recent film I Never Climbed the Provincia / Nunca subí el Provincia at the 30th edition of the French film festival.

A 10-story building was raised at 127 meters from the filmmaker’s house. Before, he could film and actually shot the Andes from the roof of his house. Now, the building stands between the Andes and his house. One day he wants to meet those who live in the building, find out who they are, where they come from and why are they there. Wanting to know about the movements and histories of his neighbors sparks an interest on his own movements and history, until he moves to where he’s now.

The Mexican film Prince of Peace / Príncipe de paz by Clemente Castor was also awarded at FIDMarseille with a couple of Special Jury Mentions in this year’s international competition and for the Center for Visual Arts Prize. Additionally, the Cuban-Venezuelan co-production La imagen del tiempo / Timeless Havana by Jeissy Trompiz received the Lycéens Prize.

The 30th edition of FIDMarseille took place July 9 - 15 in France.
