Chile's Oscar Entry WHITE ON WHITE Opens in U.S Theaters on December 10

Outsider Pictures has announced the U.S. theatrical release of White on White / Blanco en blanco, the second feature by director Théo Court, winner of the Best Director and FIPRESCI Award in the Orizzonti competition at the Venice Film Festival, and Chile’s official submission for International Feature Film at the 94th Academy Awards.

Set at the dawn of the twentieth century in Tierra del Fuego, a violent and hostile territory at the tip of Argentina where the continent meets the Straits of Magellan, White on White follows Pedro—played by Alfredo Castro, seen in many of Pablo Larraín's Chilean films, and star of From Afar and Rojo amongst many others—a middle aged photographer arrives to take wedding portraits of Miss Sara (Esther Vega), the soon to be child-bride of the powerful landowner Mr. Porter (Lars Porter.

Fascinated by the young girl's beauty he betrays the rules and becomes entrapped in the unsettled territory as a complicit witness to the genocide of the Selknam indigenous people.

The New York Times Critic’s Pick has been hailed as “seductive, distressing and unforgettable” (The Hollywood Reporter), and “an exacting, disquieting film about the corrupting influence of beauty and power (Screen International). With an impressive cast and an elegant cinematography, White on White is a poignant slow-burn neo-western that delves on the dire effects of colonialism and the casual violence of its photographic representation.
