Gael García Bernal Stars in Ruizpalacios' MUSEO

Mexican director Alonso Ruizpalacios—whose debut feature Güeros won the award for Best First Film at the Berlinale and had a successful international run—started the shooting of his second feature film this week in Mexico City. Starring actor Gael García Bernal and Ilse Salas, Ruizpalacios' wife who also starred in Güeros, the film is based on the real story of the robbery to Mexico's National Museum of Anthropology on Christmas Eve in 1985.

Written by Ruizpalacios and Manuel Alcalá, the film follows the two amateur thieves, Carlos Perches and Ramon Sardina, who jumped over the fence of the museum and robbed some very valuable historical Mayan artifacts, while the police guards were distracted celebrating the holiday.
