Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced the long-delayed release of Viena and the Fantomes, the English-language debut feature by Mexican filmmaker Gerardo Naranjo (Miss Bala) starring Dakota Fanning, Caleb Landry Jones, Zoë Kravitz, Evan Rachel Wood, and Jon Bernthal.
Shot in early 2014 and written also by Naranjo, the punk road movie set in the eighties was shelved for a reason not made public. After several years of waiting, the film will finally be released digitally on June 30. The film follows Fanning as Viena, a beautiful, young roadie, who travels with the Fantomes, an edgy post-punk band, as they tour through America in the eighties. What starts out as a wild ride of concerts and parties quickly descends into an alcohol and drug induced haze. Viena finds herself trapped in a dangerous love triangle between a good natured roadie and an unbalanced band member, as she is forced to find her own means of survival — no matter the cost.
