The Chosen Ones by David Pablos

The Spanish Academy of Cinematic Art and Science has announced the nominees for the 31st edition of the Goya Awards, Spain's national film awards, which includes some Latin American contenders. 

Competing for Best Ibero-American film are Anna by Jacques Toulemonde Vidal from Colombia, From Afar / Desde allá by Lorenzo Vigas from Venezuela, The Distinguished Citizen / El ciudadano ilustre by Gastón Duprat and Mariano Cohnfrom Argentina, and The Chosen Ones / Las elegidas by David Pablos from Mexico.

The Argentinean-Spanish film To Steal from a Thief / Cien años de perdón was nominated received a couple of nominations for Argentinean actor Rodrigo de la Serna for Best Breakthrough Actor, and Jorge Guerricaechevarría for Best Original Screenplay.

Additionally Eugenio Caballero from Mexico was nominated for Best Art Direction for his work in J.A. Bayona's A Monster Calls

The winners of the 31st Goya Awards will be announced at a ceremony in Madrid on Saturday, February 4.
