Metrograph Announces New York Theatrical Run of Locarno Winner THE FUTURE PERFECT

Metrograph, the arthouse film theater in downtown Manhattan, has announced the New York theatrical release of the Argentine film The Future Perfect / El futuro perfecto by German-born director Nele Wohlatz. Winner of the Best First Feature Prize at the 2016 Locarno Film Festival, the film will play for one week beginning September 15, and distributed by Mubi.

Weaving documentary fragments into a fiction narrative, Wohlatz intimately describes the culture-shock experience of Xiaobin, a seventeen-year-old Chinese girl attempting to make her way in Buenos Aires, finding shelter in a furtive romance with Vijay, a young Indian who she meets in her language class. Winner of the New Auteurs Grand Jury Award at last year's AFI FEST, Wohlatz’s sui generis debut finds a startling, innovative, fluid form, while announcing a new filmmaking talent.
