Mexican DP Rodrigo Prieto Gets His Third Oscar Nomination

Mexican director of photography Rodrigo Prieto has nabbed his third Oscar nomination for his work in Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences announced this morning. Prieto was first nominated for an Oscar for Ang Lee’s 2005 Brokeback Mountain, and more recently for Scorsese’s 2016 Silence.

Born in 1965 in Mexico City, Prieto studied at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC), and moved to the United States in 2000. He’s is best known for his photography for Argo (2012), and The Wolf of Wall Street (2013). He also worked with Alejandro González Iñárritu on the acclaimed Amores Perros (2000), 21 Grams (2003), Babel (2006), and Biutiful (2010).

The winners of the 92nd Annual Academy Awards will be announced on Sunday, February 9 at a ceremony in Hollywood, California.
