Mexican Issa López Wins Best Director Award at Fantastic Fest

Mexican director Issa López was the winner of the Best Director Award for her feature film Tigers Are Not Afraid / Vuelven in the horror features competition at the 2017 edition of Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas. 

In Tigers Are Not Afraid, when her mother suddenly disappears with no one to care for her, young Estrella ends up on the street and joins a gang of children, triggering a dangerous and tragic chain of events. The third feature film by López—who previously directed Efectos secundarios and Casi divas—stars Paola Lara, Juan Ramón López, Tenoch Huerta, Ianis Guerrero, Rodrigo Cortés, Benny Emmanuel, Hanssel Casillas and Nery Arredondo.

The 2017 edition of Fantastic Fest ran September 21-28.
