Morelia Film Festival Announces Competition Titles for 22nd Edition

The Morelia Film Festival has just announced the lineup for its 22nd edition, which will take place from October 18-27 in Mexico. This year’s festival will screen nine narrative films and 14 documentary films in competition, including the latest works by directors Alonso Ruizpalacios, Nicolás Pereda, Santiago Esteinou, Fernanda Valadez, and Astrid Rondero, among others.

The nine fiction films in competition are Chicharras by Luna Marán, La cocina by Alonso Ruizpalacios, Un cuento de pescadores by Edgar Nito, El hijo de su padre by Aarón Fernández, Hombres íntegros by Alejandro Andrade Pease, Lázaro at Night / Lázaro de noche by Nicolás Pereda, La raya by Yolanda Cruz, Sujo by Fernanda Valadez and Astrid Rondero, andViolentas mariposas by Adolfo Dávila.

The documentary features announced this morning are Ajuste de pérdidas by Miguel Calderón, ¡Aoquic iez in Mexico! ¡Ya México no existirá más! by Annalisa D. Quagliata Blanco, The Age of Water by Alfredo Alcántara and Isabel Alcántara, La falla by Alana Simoes, Ways to Traverse a Territory / Formas de atravesar un territorio by Gabriela Rubalcava, Goodbye Horses: The Many Lives of Q. Lazzarus by Eva Aridjis, The Weavers' Songs / Hilando sones by Ismael Vásquez Bernabé, The In Between by Robie Flores, Lachatao by Natalia Bruschtein, Li Cham by Ana Ts'uyeb, The Freedom of Fierro / La libertad de Fierro by Santiago Esteinou, Perseverancia. Un ensayo documental sobre Tomás Sánchez by Juan Carlos Martín, The Invisible Contract / Tratado de invisibilidad by Luciana Kaplan, and Tzofo Salvador Martínez Chacruna.
