Two Latin American films will have their world premiere as part of Venice Days, the independent parallel competition at the Venice Film Festival: Dusk Stone / Piedra noche by Argentine director Iván Fund and Private Desert / Deserto Particular by Brazilian director Aly Muritiba.

Starring Chilean actor Alfredo Castro, Dusk Stone tells the story of Greta and her husband Bruno, whose son mysteriously disappeared by the sea less than a year. As she and her husband Bruno are struggling with grief, her friend Sina travels to the coast to help them sell their summer beach house. While they are packing everything up and getting ready to move out, Bruno claims to have seen something that confirms the locals' rumors: the appearance of a strange shape coming from the sea.

Private Desert follows 40-year-old Daniel, who has been suspended from active police work and is under internal investigation for violence. When Sara, his internet love affair, stops answering his texts he decides to drive north in search of her, starting on what is apparently a fool's errand. He shows Sara's picture around, but nobody seems to recognize the woman. until eventually one guy pops up, saying he can put the two in touch under very specific conditions.

The 18th edition of Venice Days will take place September 1-11.
