San Francisco Film Fest Announces Cine Latino Titles and Other Selections

The San Francisco Film Festival, the longest-running film festival in the Americas, has announced the full lineup for its 65th annual edition, taking place April 21—May 1 , which includes the Cine Latino competition presenting seven feature films, plus additional U.S. Latinx and Latin American titles in other sections.

From the Andes Mountains’ rural highlands to crowded Brazilian streets, the Cine Latino program showcases the diverse textures and cinematographic excellence of Latin American storytelling. The seven competing feature films are Lo Invisible by Javier Andrade from Ecuador, Mars One / Marte Um by Gabriel Martins and Private Desert / Deserto Privado by Aly Muritiba from Brazil; Sun & Daughter / Cuidando al sol by Catalina Razzini; The Box / La caja by Lorenzo Vigas; The Cow Who Sang a Song Into the Future / La vaca que cantó una canción hacia el futuro by Francisca Alegría; The Employer and the Employee / El empleado y el patrón by Manolo Nieto from Uruguay. A jury composed by filmmakers Alexandre Moratto and Rodrigo Reyes will select the winner of the competition.

The Argentine film Sublime, the debut feature, by Mariano Biasin has been selected as the only Latin American entry in the New Directors competition; while the Bolivian film Utama by Alejandro Loayza Grisi will be screening in the Global Visions spotlight section of the festival.

Mija, the debut feature by Mexican-American director Isabel Castro will participate in the Documentary competition, and La Guerra Civil, the debut feature by Eva Longoria Bastón will screen in the Global Documentaries spotlight section.
