This morning the nominees for the 2016 Fénix Film Awards were announced in Mexico City. Pablo Trapero’s The Clan and Pablo Larrain’s Neruda received the most nominations with nine nominations each.
The nominees for Best Fiction Film are Neruda by Pablo Larraín; Neon Bull by Gabriel Mascaro; Aquarius by Mendonça Filho Kleber; The Clan by Pablo Trapero; The Death of Louis XIV by Albert Serra; From Afar by Lorenzo Vigas and I Promise You Anarchy by Julio Hernández Cordón. Larraín, Mascaro, Mendoça, Trapero and Serra also received nominations for Best Director.
The nominees for Best Documentary are El viento sabe que vuelvo a casa by José Luis Torres Leiva; Todo comenzó por el fin by Luis Ospina, Tempestad by Tatiana Huezo; Cinema Novo by Eryk Rocha and 327 cuadernos by Andres Di Tella.
The Fénix Film Awards is an independent annual film award ceremony to celebrate the films and industry professionals of Latin America, Spain and Portugal. The award ceremony will take place on December 7, 2016 in Mexico City.
