The Telluride Film Festival has announced today its lineup for its 45th edition which will feature the work by four Latin American filmmakers: Fistful of Dirt by Chilean director Sebastián Silva, Roma by Mexican director Alfonso Cuarón and Birds of Passage by Colombian directors Ciro Guerra and Cristina Gallego.
Silva's Fistful of Dirt is a U.S. production having its world premiere at the festival. Based on an earlier script co-written with Pedro Peirano, the film is set in Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. Cuarón's Roma marks the filmmaker's cinematic return to his homeland after Y Tu Mamá También in 2001, while Guerra and Gallego's Birds of Passage has just been announced as the Colombian Oscar contender in the foreign-language category.
The 45th annual edition of the Telluride Film Festival will take place August 31 – September 3 in Colorado.
