The San Sebastian Film Festival has announced that the Argentine film El amor menos pensado / An Unexpected Love, the debut feature film producer-screenwriter Juan Vera starring Ricardo Darín and Mercedes Morán, will be the open the 66th edition of the Spanish film festival.
The the semi-serious comedy, a candidate in the Golden Shell competition, follows a couple who, after 25 years of marriage, are going through a crisis which drives them to separation and prompts them to question themselves about love, desire and the passing of time.
Vera, was a co-producer of Lucrecia Martel's Zama and Pablo Trapero's Elefante blanco /White Elephant and Carancho. In addition to being the protagonist, Donostia Award-winner Darín also produced An Unexpected Love together with his son, actor Chino Darín.
