Tribeca Will Premiere the Latest Films by Celina Murga and Alonso Ruizpalacios

The Tribeca Festival has announced the addition of 11 new feature films to its 2024 edition, including the world premiere of the Argentine drama The Freshly Cut Grass / El aroma del pasto recién cortado by Celina Murga, and the North American premiere of La Cocina, the latest film by Mexican director Alonso Ruizpalacios. Both Latin American films will screen in the International Narrative Competition of the festival taking place June 5-16 in New York City.

Executive Produced by Martin Scorsese, and starring Mexican actress Marina de Tavira, the latest film by Argentine director Murga (The Third Side of the River) tells the story of two university professors—one man and one woman— who, in mirroring stories of marital perfidy, step out on their spouses with younger students and step into tricky emotional and professional terrain.

Set in the heart of a bustling and chaotic Manhattan restaurant kitchen and starring Raúl Briones Carmona and Rooney Mara, in this searing immigrant, an undocumented cook’s dreams unravel when money goes missing and a shocking revelation about his lover threatens to upend everything. The latest film by Ruizpalacios (Museo, A Cop Movie), had its world premiere in the Golden Bear competition at the Berlin Film Festival last February and will screen for the first time in the Americas at Tribeca.
