WITHOUT BLOOD Starring Salma Hayek Pinault and Demián Bichir, Opens September 18 Nationwide

Brainstorm Media has announced the U.S. theatrical release of Without Blood, written, directed, and produced by Academy Award® winner Angelina Jolie, opening in select U.S. theaters on September 18, 2026. Led by acclaimed Mexican actors and Oscar® nominees Salma Hayek Pinault and Demián Bichir, alongside Juan Minujín and Luis Alberti, the English-language drama held its world premiere in the Special Presentations section of the Toronto International Film Festival.

Adapted by Jolie and Alessandro Baricco from Baricco’s internationally acclaimed novel, Without Blood is set in the countryside following an unnamed conflict. The story explores the lasting impact of war through a tense, long-awaited confrontation between Nina (Hayek Pinault) and Tito (Bichir)—two people whose lives were inextricably bound together by a violent event in her childhood.

Anchored by raw, intimate performances, the film pairs psychological tension with a quiet, sensory visual language. Shot by cinematographer Seamus McGarvey (Atonement) with an original score by Rutger Hoedemaekers, Jolie’s direction brings two of Mexico's most celebrated dramatic actors together for an atmospheric study of trauma, guilt, and reconciliation—marking her most intimate exploration of war's human toll following First They Killed My Father.
