Netflix has announced that the protagonist of Alfonso Cuarón’s Roma, the Academy Award nominated actress Yalitza Aparicio, will star in the new Mexican comedy La gran seducción (‘The Great Seduction’) to be premiered next year. Co-written and directed by Celso García (The Thin Yellow Line), the film also stars Memo Villegas (Run Coyote Run, Prayers for the Stolen) and Mercedes Hernández (Identifying Features, Huesera), and is also penned by Luciana Herrera Caso.
This is one of many upcoming projects that the Mexican star has under her arm, including the Apple TV series Midnight Family, about a family-run ambulance business and based on the 2019 documentary of the same name by Luke Lorentzen; and the horror movie Presencias by director Luis Mandoki.
As part of the Netflix announcement of the new comedy film, the streaming platform made public a video of the first reading of the script with the director and cast:
