‘Mapas de Memoria: Diarios Cinematográficos’

Program to be followed by a conversation with Andres Di Tella and Cecilia Barrionuevo

Diaries, notebooks, sketches, working papers. Often unfinished, transitional or conditional, they serve as records, memory maps and impressions of inspiration. Renowned Argentinian filmmaker Andrés Di Tella explores note-taking and diaries not as a working method, but as a cinematic language and an art form in and of itself.

We are thrilled to welcome Andrés to share excerpts and walk us through his current work-in-progress, a project composed of a series of short and wide ranging film diaries shot on a cellphone.

Andrés has directed more than eleven feature films and is also a curator and film professor, regarded by many as one of the most significant figures in the history of Latin American documentary cinema. He was the founder of the Buenos Aires Festival Internacional de Cine Independiente (BAFICI), considered by many the principal film event in Latin America, which he directed in its first editions.

Program:

Presentation on the Film Diary
(90 min., 2020)
Andrés Di Tella will present short films and a sneak peek of excerpts from his ongoing cinematic project- a series of short and wide ranging film diaries shot on a cellphone-and give a talk on the film diary genre and aesthetic.
