ON THE ROAD / EN EL CAMINO
A film by David Pablos
(Mexico, 2025. In Spanish with English subtitles)
‘Veneno’, a rebellious young drifter, frequents roadside diners where he sleeps with truck drivers. Urgently needing a ride, he meets ‘Muñeco’, a hard-edged driver who keeps to himself. He convinces Muñeco to take him deep into the hyper-masculine world of long-haul trucking across northern Mexico. As they travel together and an unexpected intimacy builds between them, shadows from Veneno’s past resurface, putting both their lives at risk.
Executive produced by acclaimed Mexican actor and filmmaker Diego Luna, On the Road, the latest feature by David Pablos (The Chosen Ones), won the Orizzonti Award for Best Film and the Queer Lion Award at the Venice International Film Festival and has been selected as Mexico’s official submission for Best International Feature Film at the 99th Academy Awards.
