Demian Bichir and Gina Rodriguez Named Tribeca Jurors for 2020 Online Festival

Latinx actors Demian Bichir and Gina Rodriguez have been named jurors for the 2020 edition of the Tribeca Film Festival, which will be held online between April 15 - 26. Bichir will participate in the International Narrative Feature competition jury, while Rodriguez will be in the jury selecting the winner of the Nora Ephron Prize, presented to a woman filmmaker.

Bichir is a renowned Mexican-American actor who was nominated for an Academy Award in A Better Life and is known for his work in television with roles in Showtime’s Weeds and FX’s The Bridge as well as his work in films like CheSavages and The Hateful Eight. He was born in Torreón, Mexico and had a successful acting career in Mexico working in cinema, television, and theater, before migrating to the United States to pursue a career in Hollywood.

Rodriguez is an award-winning actress and director, best known for her leading role as Jane Villanueva in the satirical romantic dramedy series Jane the Virgin (2014–2019), for which she received a Golden Globe Award in 2015. Her breakthrough came in 2012, in the independent musical-drama film Filly Brown. Other credits include KajillionaireScoobAwakeMiss Bala and Someone Great.
