Mexican Director Guillermo del Toro and Chilean Cinematographer Claudio Miranda Win Critics' Choice Awards

Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro and Chilean cinematographer Claudio Miranda, were among the winners of the 28th Critics’ Choice Awards, which were announced last night at a ceremony in Los Angeles. Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio won the award for Best Animated Feature, while Miranda was presented with the Best Cinematography award for Top Gun: Maverick.

Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, directed by the Mexican filmmaker with Mark Gustafson, was also nominated at the Critics’ Choice Awards for Best Original Score and Best Score, and after its Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice Award wins, the film is consolidating as a top Oscar contender.

Born in Valparaiso, Miranda is also becoming one of the top Oscar contenders after his Critics’ Choice Win and his National Board of Review award, few days ago. Miranda won the won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography for Ang Lee’s Life of Pi in 2013.
