The Mexican Academy of Film Arts and Sciences has announced that We Shall Not Be Moved / No nos moverán, the debut feature by Pierre Saint-Martin, has been selected to represent the country at the 2026 Academy Awards in the Best International Feature category.
Starring Luisa Huertas and shot in black and white, the film tells the story of Socorro, a lawyer who, decades after losing her brother in the 1968 student massacre, receives a new lead that drives her to search for the soldier responsible. Her obsession with vengeance endangers her life, her family, and her livelihood.
The cast also features José Alberto Patiño, Agustina Quinci, and Juan Carlos Colombo, among others. Cinematography is by César Gutiérrez Miranda, with an original score by Alejandro Otaola. The film won four Ariel Awards last week including Best First Feature, Best Actress, Breakthrough Actor, and Best Original Screenplay.
Mexico is vying for its tenth Oscar nomination in the category and its second win after Alfonso Cuarón’s Roma in 2018. The country reached the shortlist four years in a row between 2000 and 2003.
