Basilio is hired to watch over a remote beach on Mexico's Baja California coast, a seemingly idyllic stretch of shoreline where little appears to happen. But beneath the tranquil surface lies a community governed by its own codes, where illicit activities coexist with everyday life. Guided by an unwavering moral compass, Basilio is determined to do what he believes is right—only to discover that justice is far more elusive than he imagined. Set against a breathtaking coastal landscape, ElGuardián, the striking fiction debut by acclaimed documentary filmmaker Nuria Ibáñez (The Naked Room, A Wild Stream), is a gripping and quietly unsettling meditation on ethics, belonging, and the fragile boundaries between duty and survival.
